POSEIDON’S TASTES – GREEK DISHES FROM THE SEA

What comes to your mind when you hear “Greek cuisine”? The clear answer is, they are the tastes, which you can find in the depths of the sea. Since ancient times Greek cuisine was based on sea sources, which buried themselves deep in its culture.

Greek people prepare seafood in various ways. We can mainly find grilled, breaded and baked.

The most used sea foods are:

  • Octopusses
  • Calamari
  • Shrimps
  • Moussels
  • Lobsters

Recipe for Saganaki Shrimp (non-alcoholic)

You will need:

+ fresh shrimp

+ 4 tomatoes

+ 1 spoonful of tomato sauce

+ 0,5 of a glass of extra virgin olive oil

+ 1 big onion

+ 2 cloves of garlic

+ salt, pepper

+ 200 – 250g of feta cheese

+ spicy pepper

+ 200ml of water

 

The recipe:

  1. First off chop the garlic, onion, spicy pepper and fry on a pan for 1 minute.
  2. Add fresh shrimp and fry until both sides are blushed. Add salt and pepper.
  3. Cut the tomatoes into cubes (the size of the cubes is up to personal preference) and throw them into the pan.
  4. Pour water and the tomato sauce in the pan and stir everything well.
  5. After a while of cooking and stirring add crushed feta cheese.
  6. Simmer everything under the cover for 5 minutes on medium heat.
