Berlin Wall and east side gallery

On November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall fell. Thirty years later, only several fragments remained which were available to graffiti artists and others as an extravagant place to create. East Side Gallery in Berlin is called the longest open-air art gallery. Over a hundred murals decorate the longest preserved fragment of the Berlin Wall. The East Side Gallery is the most visited place in Germany. Each year the east side gallery is visited approximately by 3 million tourists. Originally, most of the murals ware painted in 1990 on the eastern side of the Berlin Wall. Despite two renovations (the first time in 2000, when 33 paintings were re-painted, and the second time in 2009), some works were destroyed by erosion and… vandals. The East Side Gallery is filled with beautiful murals that combine the style of pop art, avant-garde, caricatures, satire and stylizations, surrealism and cartonist.
